Winterthur Hosts First Point-to-Point Race In 1978, Winterthur hosted the first Point-to-Point, an annual steeplechase race on the grounds of the Winterthur Museum & Country Estate, a former du Pont mansion. Five amateur steeplechases are the main event, preceded by pony races and a parade of horse-drawn coaches and carriages. In addition to the horse races, Point-to-Point is famous for its elegant and sometimes outlandish tailgating. The event is held on the first Sunday after the first Saturday in May each year, and today attracts more than 18,000 visitors. Besides Point-to-Point, Winterthur is a beautiful place for visitors year-round.
